NTPC gets nod from State Environment Ministry for its Kudgi super Thermal Power Project in the Bijapur district near Karnataka.
Nearly Rs.15,000 crores of investment proposal cleared by the board of directors and the work soon will start at the plant site.
Kudgi will have an installed capacity of 4000MW in two stages. Almost 1900 acres of land is handed over for its main plant and 1600 more acres of land yet to acquire. Power generated from this power plant will be supplied to Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamilnadu.
NTPC also taking steps to setup 5MW solar plant in Andamans.

The NTPC official said, “In the South, we are setting up a 25 MW solar photovoltaic power plant at Ramagundam in Andhra Pradesh. Of this, 5 MW would be taken up immediately. In Karnataka we are setting up 2×50 MW power plants. In Kerala, the renewable energy arm is setting up wind farms at Idukki and Palakkad.”
